Liao River Civilizations gathered more than 1500 pieces of cultural relic, containing articles from the Golden Bull Mountain human bone fossils in Yingkou 280,000 years ago, to Manchu cultural relic remains in Qing dynasty. It concentratedly embodies the archaeological excavation achievement and academic research findings of Liaoning culture and museology field for more than fifty years. Categorized into five themes: “dawn of civilization”, “north territory of Shang and Zhou dynasty”, “Integrity of Huaxia”, “Qidan dynasty”, and “The rise of Manchu”, the exhibition systematically and vividly demonstrates the origin of evolution process of Liaohe River Basin culture and the important role it played in the forming and development of Chinese civilization. Items on display are of abundant quantity, and complete system. Numerous items on display are displayed publicly for the first time.
Zhao Jie Auspicious Crane
Zhao jie, (1082-1135), namely emperor Huizong of Song dynasty, has distinguished talent in poetry, Chinese calligraphy and painting. During his 25 years’ reign, he collected quantities of calligraphy and paintings of past dynasties into the imperial storehouse, and recorded them in Xuanhe antique catalogue of paintings and Xuanhe antique catalogue of calligraphy. In the second year of Zhenghe(1112), suddenly there were a herd of cranes gathered above the south end gate of Bianjing (Kaifeng city today) imperial palace, which inspired emperor Huizong of Song dynasty of an auspicious and peaceful sense. Then he finished painting this gorgeous scenery immediately and wrote down the description of that scene with his unique thin gold style regular script and wrote an extempore verse. This roll combines poem, calligraphy and painting together, forming a perfect artistic state.
Zhang Xuan Wife of Duke of Guo’s Spring Outing
Zhang Xuan is a figure painter in the flourishing Tang Dynasty without any authentic work left. This painting was a facsimile of the original work finished by artist of imperial art academy during the time of emperor Huizong’s reign, so it has both atmosphere of flourishing Tang dynasty and the exquisite and elegant painting style of the Northern Song dynasty. The painting is full of artistic conception described in the poem Two for the Road written by the poet Du Fu of Tang dynasty.
Yaozhou kiln caladon flying fish water pot Liao dynasty
This utensil was uniquely modeled with first-rate firing technology, and can be rated as top rate. The utensil body is pure white, and the texture is compacting and hard. Green glaze covers both the inside and outside. The glazing color is sparkling, crystal-clear, white and pure. The whole body was dragonfish shaped: dragon head and fish body.
Zhou Fang Beauties Wearing Flowers Tang dynasty Silk scroll
Beauties Wearing Flowers is a resplendent pearl of ancient China’s painting and calligraphy. Though had gone through more than 1,200 years’ catastrophe of wars, it is still in good keep. It is the treasure of Liaoning Provincial Museum.
The museum makes good use of its place advantage and talent advantage, holding public beneficial lectures on knowledge of historical relics at regular intervals, which are centered on exhibitions of local historical culture, museum collections, and some other special themes.
