Common as any card, with two names of the cities printed on it, the train ticket combines hometown with another city, bears sentimental attachment and string time and space.

January 5, reporter saw at the ticket hall located at the south square of Shenyang North Railway Station that besides the passengers waiting in front of the ticket vending machine, many passengers on the east side of the hall were looking at something very carefully. When the reporter came closer, he found that this wall had been changed into an exhibition area for train ticket history.

Since the first ticket appeared in the year 1830, train ticket has a history of 183 years today. The tickets on show are the enlarged edition of about 80 train tickets in different times. Reporter saw that the train tickets in late Qing dynasty period is quite colorful with different shapes and patterns. At that time, many foreign countries build railways in China. The train ticket used at their railway stations are made according to the ones they use in their own countries. That's why train tickets are of different sizes and colors. Some of them are vertical, some of them are horizontal, yellow, blue, French, Russian...In Republic of China era, the carriages of the train are classified. Generally 3 types:First class, second class and third class. The tickets of different carriages are different. Train ticket for first class carriage is red. Second class is white and third class is blue.Englishman Thomas•Edmonson invented hardcard train ticket, which is also called 'Edmonson train ticket'. This kind of train ticket is gradually accepted by all the other countries and finally becomes the standard train ticket pattern.Besides, wadding train tickets which are rarely seen in the 80s las century and the blue magnetic medium train tickets used nowadays are also on show.

Tips on ticket punch pliers are also introduced on this exhibition. In the early days of railway transportation, there are only two types of ticket punch pliers. One is the 'V-shape' ticket punch plier used for entering. This 'V-shape' means the passenger and the railway transport contractor have legal agreement. The other one is the 'M-shape' ticket punch plier, which means the termination.Railway passenger transportation department also designed different ticket punch pliers for different train stations to prevent the passengers to steal a ride. For example, the entrance shape of A railway station is a triangle, and the entrance shape of B railway station is a trapezoid. The ticket inspector working at exit can then tell whether the passenger got on the train at the railway station written on the ticket.

"The reason why we host this exhibition is that we want the passengers to get to know more about the history of railway." said Zhang Xiaogong, a working staff of Shenyang North Railway Station.Reporter learned from Shenayng North Railway Station that the 'railway ticket history exhibition' will be shown for a long time from today on.
