The two sides of the new version of 2 baht coins

May 29, the 2 baht coins made by Shenyang Banknote Printing and Minting Company, which affiliated to China Banknote Printing and Mining Company, were successfully delivered from Shenyang. It's the first deliver of the new version 2 baht coins after its public issue.

It's one of the new version coins which enter circulation after Maha Vajiralongkorn succeeding the throne. It's also the first time for the portrait of the new king be printed on the coins.

In August, 2017, Shenyang Banknote Printing and Minting Co.Ltd. stood out from lots of internationally famous banknote printing and minting companies and successfully won the bidding of the 220 million Thai 2 baht-coin project.It's the first time for our country to win the international order of coins in circulation since the "belt and road" initiative. Manufacturing coins in circulation for foreign countries marks the new breakthrough China has made in international coinage industry.

According to Qin Xiaoxiang, vice general manager of Shenyang Banknote Printing and Minting Co.Ltd., the material used in 2 baht coin is aluminum bronze. It's the first time to use this kind of material in coinage industry in China. Thailand has high requirement on the fine graphic and embossment effect of the portrait. Thus, China Banknote Printing and Minting Co.Ltd. seeks for refinements, tackled the problem of materials, perfected the planchet, moulds and polishing parameter. The new technology doesn't only show the requirements of royal crown and clothes perfectly, but also shows the technical strength in the manufacturing of moulds, planchet and coining. 2 baht coin project realized the domestication of the whole industrial chain from the raw material to technology. This project shows the core competitiveness of banknote printing and coinage power of China.
